The inventor of the sports drink Gatorade died this week at age 80. He invented the drink in the 1960’s as a solution to the football players thirst while playing in the hot Florida swamp-like conditions at The University of Florida. One day, the head coach came up to him and asked, “Doctor, why don’t football players wee-wee after a game?” This question spurred on a series of experiments that resulted in the creation of the drink that has made billions. I saw that quote too – I was amused, imagining a big college football coach using the word “wee-wee”.
Gatorade is awesome. I saw the building where it was first discovered!
