Weston has a stomach virus and got dehydrated today, causing us to have to take him the OKC Children’s Hospital ER. After about 5 hours, they were able to get him re-hydrated, and he is sleeping comfortably tonight. Erin and I are hoping that we don’t get the virus this week, but know it’s a possibility. Hopefully Weston will back to his old baby antics tomorrow.

Man, I see these bulletins about Weston getting dehydrated or bumping his head and how you quickly mend things and although I’m just at the young age of 17, I start thinking “What kind of father would I be?”
I worry that I wouldn’t be able to tell if my kid is sick, or dehydrated, or when he/she/it starts walking and bumps their head on something. Yeah, I know I’m young, but one thing I know for sure in my future is to be a father (because I am the last male holder of my family name, and of course the joys of being a parent….) and I am just unsure of how I would come to learn all these baby security methods that seem to come to other people as common sense.
And we ALL know how me and common sense collaborate, and not in the ’smore kind of way…
Well Rog, all I can tell you is that you just need to follow the baby’s Mommy’s instincts. Guys aren’t usually as in-tune with babies needs, but can learn a lot from Moms. Also, with Weston, it’s obvious when something is wrong because normally he is very active, laughing, and down-right crazy. When he acts different from this we know somethings awry.
yuck. Nate was in the ER for that three weeks ago. I came down with the bug, but Tim escaped. Maybe you, too, will be lucky.
