Who’s your Tebow?

I hate to get philosophical here, but the OU game last night was quite inspiring. But you may say, your team lost! How can that be inspiring?” Well, I was inspired by Florida’s quarterback, Tim Tebow. At one point in the 2nd quarter, there was an energy that picked up in the game, and my Dad made the comment, “Well, the game is over.” I said, “why is it over?” He said, “well, because Florida has something OU doesn’t. Tebow. He is getting all pumped up and excited, he’s getting the crowd excited, and he’s getting the other players on the team excited. Once that happens, no one can stop them.” I thought about for a moment. And I began to see what my Dad meant. Tebow was running around, jumping up and down, and pushing the fans and other players to adopt this new energy that would ultimately stop the Sooners and win them the championship.

Now for the philosophical part: In life, isn’t great when you have people on your “team” who do what Tebow did last night? Isn’t great when you have people on your “team” who inspire you, push you, and encourage you to do great things? I have someone in my life who does that: Jesus Christ. I know that sounds very corny, but that’s exactly what Christ does in our lives – He inspired us to do great things. He wants the best for us. He uses people in my life to do what Tebow did last night. I attribute a lot of my success in coping with the loss of Weston to these people in my life who have encouraged me and inspired me to continue to live life even in the face of death.

As a side note: I can’t help but feel that Tim Tebow had some extra encouragement himself last night, seeing as how he boldly professes his faith in Jesus to the world. Just under his eyes, the whole world could see that he had written the verse: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.” Where does Tim Tebow draw his strength? Jesus. Does it show? It did last night.

Who’s your Tebow?

*as a side note: yes, I am a Sooners fan, and am very proud of them!! Go OU!!

We missed watching the Game with Weston last night – even though it would have been past his bedtime shortly after the game started.  But last year we often would get together to watch the games together and all put on our OU apparel.  We were teaching Weston how to root.  He liked it!

  1. Great entry, great pictures, great point…

    Always in my prayers…

  2. I just wish when everyone talks about what a “great kid” he is, they whould actually ponder WHY he is such a great kid, so that they would see the reason.

It’s hard not to like Tebow.

  3. Thank you for sharing your journey as you learn to navigate through life with Weston in Heaven.
